Positioned at the edge of the Peak District National Park the New Mills Golf Club scores high on the list for surrounding scenery. Renovation work carried out in 2007 added a modern look and feel to the clubhouse where hot food and snacks are served throughout the day and a fully stocked bar provides both hot and cold refreshments. The club also has a PGA professional available to provide golf tutorials and the pro shop is has all the latest equipment available. Sloping fairways are rife throughout the the course and for those shots making it to the green will find them to be uneven, making even the shortest of putts quite tricky. Although the course is short don't let this fool you into breaking out the driver at every tee. In many cases a tactical shot is required to make sure that par is achieved. The signature 16th, par 3, starts off on a tee elevated more than 50 feet looking down onto the small green. The uphill wind is an ever present concern ready to force any ball to the right hand side out-of-bounds, so a good tee shot to clear the heather and bushes and onto the green is the only way to approach this hole.
