Thanks to its location at the base of Mount Leinster, Borris Golf Club boasts some pretty impressive views that stretch beyond the surrounding countryside to the Blackstairs Mountains to the east and the Barrow Valley to the west. The course opened in 1907, giving its landscape plenty of time to mature to the beautiful grounds that exist today. It is nestled within the McMorrough Kavanagh Estate, a tree-covered expanse of verdant parkland. The abundant trees, of which there are many varieties, play no small role on the golf course. The layout was carefully routed through the woodland, strategically positioning the trees in the most challenging of places. The course has sand-based greens that provide excellent putting surfaces and conditions throughout the year. The lush, well manicured fairways are also always in immaculate condition. Golfers will be hard-pressed to find a more picturesque course, which explains why it is often very busy on the weekends. In addition to the course, Borris Golf Club has a practice area with a putting green.
