Two fantastic links courses. The 1562 and Broomfield The 1562 Course features in Scotland’s top 100 courses for 2021 and has been described as “a magnificent stretch of marvellously natural ground”. The course challenges golfers with its undulating fairways and fast greens, made more difficult when the wind whips inland from the sea. The 1562 Course has all the key ingredients to make up one of the utmost challenges in the world of golf – rugged and undulating (yet an easy walk), some deep bunkers, springy yet quick draining turf, bountiful gorse, sand dunes aplenty and fantastic greens. A number of the holes run alongside the rugged Angus coastline offering some stunning scenery. Hosting many great events over the years and was a Final Qualifying course for the Open Championship in 1999 and 2007. The Broomfield is short at just 4701 yards and is a great compliment to the 1562. The key to conquering this deceptive course is a delicate touch and the ability to accurately control the ball from the tee. Especially when the East wind blows (which it has been known to do!), the Broomfield can prove to be a significant challenge.
